The idea for Dr. Dreimer’s diary came from the excerpts from the diary of Samuel Pepys published daily in the National Post. We thought it would be interesting to write a modern diary using the more formal language of an earlier era – in this case we have attempted an approximation of 18^th Century expression. What is perhaps most evident is the capitalisation of nouns, which gives an emphasis, and suggests a cadence entirely missing from current written expression. The language is more cumbersome and formal, and tends to favour the use of parallel structure for rhetorical emphasis.

Style is inseparable from attitude and tone. Dr. Dreimer observes mankind as if from a great height, or from another, more sensible century.

As it has turned out, the diary is not a conventional diary at all. Apart from the occasional references to the mythical Aunt Myalgia, languishing in the Shady Hollow Psychiatric Facility in downtown Toronto, or to the Lumpenbangen Studios in the inner reaches of Hamilton, or to the Haven of Wind-in-the-Pines at Silver Lake, we gain little insight into the trivia of Dr. Dreimer’s own life.

The diary is, in fact, a commentary on events in the news.

"Peace...must be built on justice, on integral human development, on respect for fundamental human rights, on the protection of creation, on the participation of all in public life, on trust between peoples, on the support of peaceful institutions, on access to education and health, on dialogue and solidarity." (Pope Francis --Breitbart News, March 30)　

We have already noted that the Musings of the Pope can be very instructive to those with an Interest in the uncertain Progress of the human Project. He shows, Time and Time again, how idealistic, uncritical Thinking leads to questionable Pronouncements: Anything the Pope says is virtually guaranteed to be Nonsense.

We do expect Nonsense from religious Leaders, of course. That is their Stock in Trade, and special Area of Expertise.

The Idea that there is a benevolent Creator whose Thoughts and Feelings may be divined – not by Evidence – but by mere Speculation -- and may be confirmed -- not by Experiment -- but by mere Pronouncement – provides a vast Scope for Silliness. These Absurdities are well-known, and have an ancient history; we have become used to them. We should also note that most religious People -- with a certain Nod to Reality – confine their Expectations of Nirvana and Perfection safely in the distant, post mortem Future. Proof of the unproven and improbable is – quite sensibly – promised only in the Realm of the unproven and the improbable.

But, alas, the Pope has shown a very great Reluctance to confine himself to dealing with the Absurdities of his Religion: he will not be so cabined, cribbed, and confined. Enamoured of the Ideas of Equality and Socialism, he – like all Socialists – seeks Heaven in the here and now.

It is impossible, of course, to disagree with the Aspiration; but we wonder whether the Pope has considered the Magnitude of the Task he is proposing.

The "necessary conditions" would appear to involve a Change in the Nature of Human Nature.

First, one would have to get rid of Ambition, then Deception, and then the Impulse to Treachery.

For no Matter that all Nations might agree to destroy and never again construct nuclear Weapons, there will be some earnest Dictator ambitious enough to deceive the Inspectors, retain or construct Weapons, and gain the upper Hand in the struggle for World Dominance.

Until there is a radical Transformation in Human Nature, nuclear Weapons, Hand Guns, Kitchen Knives, and Hatpins, will continue to represent a Threat – of differing Magnitudes, of course -- to the human Project.

Science has not yet devised a Bottle of Forgetting into which the Genie of scientific Knowledge can be safely stuffed. The Genie is free – and human Nature cannot be trusted to ignore him – except under Threat of Destruction.

And even that Threat is no Guarantee against Accident, or Insanity.

A Reduction in nuclear Weapons may be possible – to reduce the Magnitude of Disaster. Eradication – except possibly by destructive Asteroid Event – is not feasible.

We see that the wretched anti-Islamophobia Motion – M-103* – has passed by a vote of 201 - 91 in the House of Commons.**

The term "Islamophobia" was not defined – so we assumed that it meant "fear of Islam." We thought that this Definition was more likely to reflect the Intent of the Motion than the more technically correct, "irrational Fear of Islam." We do not think that Fear of Islam can possibly be "irrational."

Our Point has been that Islam – if its Texts are to be read literally – is a very frightening Religion, and quite incompatible with the Values of secular western Democracies.

The Religion is full of absurd Concepts – it holds that Death is appropriate for Apostates and Unbelievers; it holds that Religion should dictate the Operations of the State; it holds that Men are superior to Women. One of the most arrogant Claims is that the Religion must never be criticised by Anyone: thus the Fatwa against Salman Rushdie and the murderous Outrage on the Publishing of the Danish Cartoons.

Thus, we have maintained that "Islamophobia" is not simply justified – it is required;*** indeed, we cannot imagine sensible People – who have read oppressive Verses of the Koran – would not find it both dangerous and frightening.

We are interested to see that Iqra Khalid, the Sponsor, has now – after the Fact – come up with a Definition: "The irrational hate of Muslims that leads to discrimination."

Of Course, defined in that Manner, the Motion seems only the Advocacy of Virtue: Who would not be against the irrational Hate of Muslims? Who would not vote – rationally -- to condemn the "irrational Hatred of Broccoli," or the "irrational Hatred of Beelzebub?"

The rational Hate of their Religion is neatly side-stepped.

While the Motion does not make Reference to "Human Rights Commissions" – the Odour – like that from an established Garbage Dump -- is there. We suspect Ms. Khalid would not be displeased to see Penalties for "Hate and Fear" enforced by some Arm of Government.

It is -- in one Way -- all Nonsense, of course. Hate and Fear – as perfectly rational Responses to the hateful and frightening -- can hardly be legislated.

But – in another Way – the Effect is chilling. Expressions of Hate and Fear could be made illegal.

Indeed, this Motion looks very much like a Preparation for Laws against Blasphemy.

*That, in the opinion of the House, the government should: (a) recognize the need to quell the increasing public climate of hate and fear; (b) condemn Islamophobia and all forms of systemic racism and religious discrimination and take note of House of Commons’ petition e_411 and the issues raised by it; and (c) request that the Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage undertake a study on how the government could (i) develop a whole-of-government approach to reducing or eliminating systemic racism and religious discrimination including Islamophobia, in Canada, while ensuring a community-centered focus with a holistic response through evidence-based policy-making, (ii) collect data to contextualize hate crime reports and to conduct needs assessments for impacted communities, and that the Committee should present its findings and recommendations to the House no later than 240 calendar days from the adoption of this motion, provided that in its report, the Committee should make recommendations that the government may use to better reflect the enshrined rights and freedoms in the Constitution Acts, including the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

***Observation # 591: Criticism of Islam is the only choice for anyone with a moral compass.

It is our Habit to make Comments on Articles published online by the National Post and Breitbart News. Breitbart News always provides an Opportunity for Commentary; the National Post is more choosy.

Indeed, often when we see an Article in the National Post which might attract Opinions not in Accord with Good Manners and delicate Sensibilities – there is no Provision made for us to express our rude and indelicate Views.

We admit that the National Post has surprised us recently by allowing Comment on Motion M-103.* We see this Motion as an outrageous Attempt by the Government to proclaim Islamophobia – a fear of Islam – to be akin to Racism, Religious Discrimination, and Hate Crimes. It thus attempts to obscure the Truth, stifle Debate, and vilify those of us who think that the Cure for Islamophobia is not to be found by Government Proclamation, but through a Discussion of those Elements of the Religion which make it so feared.

In our Ideal World, Muslims would reduce Fear of Islam by disavowing those Texts which are so obviously absurd and incompatible with any humane Continuance of the Human Project.

We are pleased that the National Post saw fit to give us the Opportunity to express this indelicate Opinion, one which is so offensive to decent, caring Citizens everywhere in our great Land.

However, Today, we came across an Article concerning the Refusal of the Liberal Government to insist that First Nations Leaders publish financial Documents – including the delicate Matter of Salaries. There was no opportunity given to comment on this News. The Topic is likely considered toxic, since it might invite Criticism of Aboriginals.

The Article notes that the Northern Affairs Minister, Carolyn Bennett, announced in December of 2015, that the Government would not enforce The First Nations Financial Transparency Act.

Compliance with the Act has fallen from 92% in 2015 to 85% in 2016.

The average Canadian might wonder why the Liberal Government would fail to enforce this Act.

We are pleased to provide the average Canadian with the Answer. It is, in fact, related to the Reason why there is no Opportunity to comment on the Article.

In this particular Instance, of course, Coddling of Leaders – who may be swayed by Self-interest -- may not be to the Advantage of ordinary Aboriginals; but we must not examine these Things too closely. The broad Perception is all.

The Liberal Government wishes to present itself as working diligently with those of moral Perfection to allow the full Flowering of that Perfection in a natural, and unhurried Process. Hurrying them would suggest Imperfection; Imperfection of aboriginal Leaders is not part of the Preferred Narrative.

The astute Reader will see that this Principle extends far beyond this particular Instance.

The average Canadian may have asked himself, in an idle Moment, why it is those on the Left*** who overwhelmingly tend to excoriate Israel, the only Democracy in the Middle East. For Example, was it not just the other Day that a Member of the Student Society at McGill, Igor Sadikov, exhorted Others to "punch a [Z]ionist today?"

We have no certain Knowledge, of course, but we would be willing to bet at least a Canadian Dollar that the young Mr. Sadikov is a typical progressive University Student basking in the Ambient Rays of the Left-Wingery which dominates our Centres of Learning.

The "Preferred Narrative" Principle is at work here. Israel is a successful, savvy, hard-nosed Country which knows it must be realistic to survive. Palestine is unsuccessful, inefficient, and perversely obsessed with an unsatisfiable Grievance. The "Preferred Narrative" allows for only one possible Conclusion: Palestinians are morally superior to Israelis.

Success -- in the "Preferred Narrative"-- can never shake the Taint of immorality. Failure is always the Result of Oppression, and is the invariable Marker of moral Perfection.

We are pleased to have been able to elucidate these Matters for average Canadians. In a just World, we might expect Recognition for our Insights, and perhaps, after our Demise,  a small Plaque to be placed on an Indian Reserve or near the Entrance to McGill University.

However, we suspect that those who follow the "Preferred Narrative" will not be pleased, and will do Everything in their Power to prevent our little Discovery from becoming widely known.
 

We have never been tempted to say, "the Science is settled" – since we know that Knowledge is always subject to Change when new Evidence is presented.

We cannot, however, resist the Temptation to say, "Climate Alarmism is Toast." We know that this is an unjustified Exaggeration: the Anthropogenic Climate Change Chicken will continue to run wildly around the Barnyard of public Debate – but we think that the anthropogenic Head has been effectively severed from the Chicken Change Body.

Logic suggests that, at some Point, the Chicken Body will become aware of the Loss, and stop running. However, our current Computer Modelling System is insufficiently advanced to determine with Accuracy the precise Date of the Demise. It may be towards the End of the current Century – plus or minus Two point Five Degrees Centigrade.

It appears to us that, to this Point, 97% of Scientists have realized that in Order to obtain Grants, Scholarships, Funding, Promotion, Publication, Prestige, and Respectability, a resounding Endorsement of an unproven Scientific Theory has been a practical Necessity.

Now that Mr. Trump, an apparent Skeptic, has been elected, little Stirrings of Discontent, modest Essays at Truth, minor Liftings of Scientific Heads above the Parapets of Deceit have become evident.

In the Skirmishes about the Merits of Anthropogenic Global Warming Theory, it has been customary to point to august Government Bodies such as the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration as final Arbiters: "See – the vast Resources of Government have been deployed to study this Issue – and they agree with 97% of Scientists!"

In an Interview with the Daily Mail, Dr. Bates criticized the Methodology used to obtain data for the convenient Revisions:

We understand that the Remarks of Dr. Bates have led to considerable Consternation and Attempts to discredit him. But since he simply confirms the Suspicions and Criticisms expressed at the Time,* we see these as mere Scurryings of a headless Chicken.

We look forward to seeing, in the coming Months, a gradual Diminution in Climate Change Fervour. As Charles Mackay has observed: "Men, it has been well said, think in herds; it will be seen that they go mad in herds, while they only recover their senses slowly, and one by one."

As Senses are recovered, we predict that the Anthropogenic Climate Change Chicken will stagger in Circles of decreasing Circumference.

The remedy for Islamophobia will not be found by criminalizing fear, but by making Islam less frightening. (Observation # 943)

Truth is often inconvenient. Indeed, it may be argued that Life is not supportable without some Elements of agreeable Illusion. Hope for the Future, for Example, is always present, and tends to be invulnerable to the Awkwardness of Facts. And our Self-Image is probably perpetually susceptible to an element of comforting Flattery.

But there are times when Illusion becomes unwise, inadvisable, or dangerous.

The Illusion which seems prominent in the News today is that Islam is a wonderful and benign Religion which should not be criticized. To criticize, it seems, is to express Hatred for Muslims.

Thus – it appears – there is a considerable Feeling among our Betters, that we be condemned for Criticism. There is even some Suggestion that such Criticism should be forbidden by Law -- in a wonderful Solomonic Exchange of Goods: Freedom of Speech bartered for the Protection of a religious and political Ideology.

This Controversy began, of course, with the Introduction of Motion M-103,* which conveniently – for the Purpose of the Motion --links Islamophobia with Racism and religious Discrimination – which are different Matters entirely. It calls on the Government to reduce or eliminate Islamophobia, which it suggestively links to "hate crime reports." With this Linkage, the Motion suggests that "Islamophobia" is a "Hate Crime."

We have noted elsewhere that the Views of this Motion are dependent on the Universe inhabited by the Viewer.

In the Universe of the politically correct – the one inhabited by our Betters – "Racism" and "Islamophobia" are equivalent – they are both irrational and unjustified.

We would point out that "Racism" is a Prejudice against Race. We are not certain whether there is any Evidence which would justify such a Prejudice – but, in any Event, a Criticism of Race is unhelpful because "Race" is not subject to Change. However, Islam – which is a religious and political Ideology -- is – although, we admit, with difficulty – alterable.

In the other Universe – the real One – it is recognized that not all religions are equally worthy, and that Islam contains many Ideas that are inconsistent with the Values of secular western democracies. Islam condemns Unbelievers and Apostates to Death; it holds that there should be no Separation of Church and State; it holds that Women are inferior to Men; it holds that it should not be subject to Criticism which Freedom of Speech would allow.

We are also troubled by the Fact that those Muslims who seem to ignore the "difficult" Aspects of their Religion, are not noted for any Criticism or Condemnation of them. There are only two reasonable Conclusions: either they secretly agree with them, or they are so fearful that they dare not speak. Neither Conclusion is comforting.

We understand from Reports of the Media, that there have been anti-Muslim Protests arising from the Motion which reveal a considerable Distrust and Antipathy. It is regrettable that the Focus is not on Ideas – the Religion itself – but on those who may have varying Degrees of Adherence to the Religion.

The politically correct, who are concerned, not with Truth, but the maintaining of a comforting Illusion, will continue to condemn "Islamophobia" – in the Hope that all right-thinking Citizens will be convinced, pressured, and if necessary, forced to "agree" with them.

As an Example, we have come across a Statement from John Tory, the Mayor of Toronto:

Acts of Hatred against Muslim Citizens are one Thing; Islamophobia – Fear of Islam – is another. They should not be equated. The fact is that Islam – the Religion – supports Values which are threatening and antithetical to our own; in many Parts of the World it is used to justify Murder and Oppression; it is, indeed, frightening, and therefore a legitimate Target of Distrust.

Those like Mr. Tory wish to see the World, not as it is, but as they would prefer it to be. Their Efforts would be more effectively directed at the Followers of Islam, to encourage them to take all possible Steps to make their Religion less frightening – by disavowing its more primitive and oppressive Elements.

In our Dreaming of the Moment, we would like to present Mr. Tory with some of the more indefensible Passages of the Koran, and ask him to proclaim for them his enthusiastic and unqualified Endorsement.

We were driving towards Wind-in-the-Pines last Saturday, and listening to the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.

Having made this startling Admission, we feel that we should provide an Explanation.

Yes, we do listen to the CBC in order to further our Understanding of the Weaknesses of Humankind. We keep hoping to gain some Insight into how an Organization can be such a robust Repository of bad Ideas and flawed Thinking. We should assure our Readers that after each Inquiry into this Matter, we undertake a vigorous Protocol of mental Bleaching, to avoid the Possibility of Infection.

We find reminding ourselves that the CBC is actually located on the Big Rock Candy Mountain, and receives Messages from Earth only every other Month – by carrier Pigeon – helps to put Matters in Perspective.

But we digress.

On the Radio, we were much struck by an Interview with a Lady who, along with her Sons, was learning Arabic, in order to gain a greater Understanding of the Koran. She described the Koran as a wonderful "Gem." It seemed that Reading the Koran in an original Form – in order to grasp its true Magnificence – had been a life-long Ambition.

Our own View of the Koran is markedly different. We do not claim to have a great Familiarity with it – but we have read enough Verses of a troubling Nature to be aware that it has many un-gem-like, rather lump-of-coalish Elements.

Allow us to engage in a little Fantasy. The Interviewer was suitably wide-eyed and non-judgmental. She was impressed by the Lady's Dedication and aspirational Religiosity. Indeed, we have little Doubt that the Interview is Part of the current immense Propaganda Campaign to make Islamophobia a Crime against Humanity.*

Our Fantasy is that the Interviewer would ask how the Lady reconciles the Concept of "Gem" with Verses such as these:

One might dismiss these Passages as primitive Notions from an old Book; but the Actions of many Muslims suggest a ready Acceptance. And the interviewed Lady calls the Koran a "Gem."

Of course, such Questions are not asked, because even to ask about such Passages contains an Element of implied Criticism. And it is well understood that Islam is not to be criticized. It says so in the Passages above.

We have already noted that Parliament seems poised to discuss the Passage of Anti-Blasphemy Legislation. This seems a determined Intent to take us definitively backwards – away from the Age of Science and the Attempt to discover the Truth and see Things as they are – and back to an Age when Reason was expected to defer to Fantasy.

Indeed, perhaps next, the Canadian Parliament will consider whether to declare that Galileo was wrong after all – and proclaim that the Sun circles an Earth that is definitively and comfortingly flat.

Even though our Days are spent deep in philosophical Contemplation, we have become vaguely aware of a Development in the Political System in the United States. It appears that a Mr. Donald Trump has succeeded, and a Mrs. Clinton has failed -- in becoming President of that Country. This Result has been despite the Conviction of all right-thinking People, of all respected Men and Women of Prominence, and of all Journalists, that such an Outcome would be as likely as the Discovery that Mr. Obama had, on one remarkable occasion, a valid Opinion, or that Mr. Putin, in his spare Time, knits.

Mr. Trump has succeeded, we suspect, because he is the Antithesis not only of Mr. Obama, but of a Way of Thinking which has become the reflexive Habit of all right-thinking people, of all respected Men and Women of Prominence, and of all Journalists over the last several Decades.

That Way of Thinking may be described as Enlightened Stupidity. The Thinking is "enlightened" because it views Reality through a very special rose-coloured Prism. It is a Kind of X-Ray Vision which looks past the Superficialities of Disparity, Difference, and Inequality, and sees the Bedrock Truth: a World of Harmony and Equality simply waiting to be revealed through the magical, healing and compassionate Powers of Enlightened Stupidity.

Thus, it has been Mr. Obama’s Aim to tame the majestic Lion of Entrepreneurship and Initiative of his Country, and, by Executive Order and persuasive Power, transform it into a cuddly Pussy-Cat of amiable Mediocrity. At the same Time, Society at large has also increasingly embraced the new Religion of Political Correctness, which holds that Feelings are more important than Facts, and that Fiction is more important then Freedom.

So much for the "Enlightened" part of the modern Ethos.

What it fails to take Account of is that the Prism is distorted, and therefore the "Bedrock Truth" is a Lie.

All Creatures are the Products of a cruel and competitive Process of Evolution. Equality is not in the Blueprint of the natural World, and hence will not be found among Living Creatures. Some Ideas are actually better than Others, and those who fail to recognize the Ideas that work, and distinguish them from those that merely sound good, are not likely to improve the Lot of Mankind.

When Ideas are not criticized for Fear of hurting the Feelings of those who hold them, bad Ideas are protected and given the unhelpful Opportunity to flourish. When the Truth is replaced with Fiction, Battles will be fought against Shadows. A Refusal to Face Reality allows it to stab you in the Back.

One much overlooked Reality about human Nature is that it is instinctively tribal. No one would encourage, of course, the aggressive military Tribalism of the Twentieth Century. But to expect Tribalism to disappear in the Face of earnest Wishes – is Folly. People, tribal and territorial, do not naturally welcome the Incursions of other Tribes. When there are such Incursions, there is an age-old, unwritten Rule: "When in Rome, do as the Romans do." "Discrimination" against foreign Tribes is merely a Measure of self-Preservation. It is an attempt to enforce tribal Conformity.

Thus, the modern Way of Thinking may be applauded for its enlightened hopeful Idealism, but faulted for its stupid Failure to understand the Nature of Reality.

In our View, Mr. Trump has been elected because he has been sufficiently bold to reject Enlightened Stupidity in favour of a Recognition of Reality.

The Clue to this is in the Symbol of his Slogan: Make America Great Again. This assumes the Validity of an eternal Truth: some Ideas are better than Others. Some Nations, some Cultures, some Approaches to the Organization of Society will lead to more Wealth, more Opportunities for Self-Fulfilment, more scientific Discoveries, more cultural Achievements, and more Freedom for Citizens than Others.

Surely every Society should aim – and compete – for better Lives for its Citizens. This Competition is the Mechanism by which Evolution occurs and by which Civilizations rise to Greatness. If there is no Aim for Greatness, it will not be achieved. If the Aim is simply for Equality – Mediocrity is the only possible Result.

Mr. Trump recognizes that America has traditionally shown a Capacity for extraordinary Success.

Mr. Trump – at last – recognizes that the Values of Islam are inconsistent with those of his Country. Only a Fool would wish to welcome those ideologically – religiously -- opposed to the very foundational Notions of his own Country.

Additionally, unlike Mr. Obama and the Left-Wing Establishment -- he is a friend to Israel -- the only real Democracy in the Middle East. He is, correctly, suspicious of Iran, and justifiably antagonistic to the United Nations, an Organization which has betrayed the Idealism of its Conception to have become not only corrupt, but ambitiously dedicated to the Control of Nations in the Name of Environmental Protection .

Finally, Mr. Trump is skeptical of anthropogenic Climate Change Alarmism. The Notion that Greenhouse Gasses are the chief Cause of Global Warming has simply not been proven: Predictions based on that Theory have not been validated. Thus Mr. Trump has a more sensible Policy on Energy than the gullible, and consistently erroneous, Mr. Obama.

We do not agree with Mr. Trump on every Count. Just as every Society must blend the Forces of Co-Operation and Competition so the best overall Result for any Nation may be achieved by recognizing where Competition should be leavened by Co-Operation. He is unhelpfully sensitive, and seems somewhat unpredictable. We are horrified by the Rise of Anti-Abortion Sentiment, which has its Roots in the Silliness of Religion.

But overall, we see the Election of Mr. Trump as a Return to seeing Things as they are, rather than as the out-of- touch Elites would prefer to see them.

We are indeed blessed to have a Prime Minister who has deigned to take Time away from an important Lifestyle to run our insignificant Country.

It is a Pity that some of the Small-Minded among us fail to recognize the Reality: certain Attitudes and Actions from the Greater Lifestyle will occasionally intrude into the Humdrum of National Affairs. This is not a Problem; this is of great Advantage to our imperfect Perceptions.

The Fact that the Trudeaus hired two Nannies at the Expense of Taxpayers should not have caused such a Stir. It should have been recognized that the Greater Lifestyle has certain Accoutrements which are appropriate to its Elegance. We understand that One of the two Nannies has been let go, and her Replacement is being paid for by the Trudeaus themselves.

Surely it is foolish for them to bow to public Pressure. Once Accommodation has been made on one Issue, it is hard to say to what Swamps of Failure such Weakness of Resolve will lead. We shudder to contemplate the Consequences. Think what happened after the signing of the Magna Carta in 1215. The Monarchy has never been the same since.

Indeed, there was even Criticism of Mr. Trudeau over certain of His Condolences on the Death of Fidel Castro, an old Family Friend, and one of the certified Elites of Left-Wingery on our Planet.

Some Uppity People – those who probably had never met Mr. Castro and experienced his Warmth and Charisma – and who judged him solely on his Habits of cruel Dictatorship -- felt that such Expressions of Chumminess were inappropriate. What niggling Pettiness! What more Evidence is needed that Commoners should stick to those Things which they know best – complaining about Hydro Bills and Deficiencies in the Government Payroll System?

Indeed, there is now an unseemly Fuss over a Vacation during the recent Holidays with the Aga Khan --another old Family Friend and Billionaire -- who is the Director of a Lobbying Organization which has received the trifling Sum of Three Hundred and Ten Billion Dollars since 2004.

And it is important for the Wealthy and Famous to maintain Contact with one another. One never knows who will prove to be of Advantage, or when.

We rest our Case.

Indeed, perhaps we should point out that the Relationship with the Aga Khan has led to certain Greater Insights of the Greater Lifestyle which must certainly benefit Humanity at large. Mr. Trudeau has said:　

"Equal members of this world!" Surely the Recognition of this Greater Equality must count as one of the great Advancements in the Understanding of the human Condition? We are speechless at its Profundity.

All Things considered, it must be seen by All with even a Modicum of Common Sense, that the Vacation with the Aga Khan is a most reasonable Benefit to our Country; it is merely an Example of what Advancements can be made when the Prime Minister of an insignificant Country -- such as our own -- brings the Sweetness and Light of the Greater Lifestyle to bear benevolently upon it.

Finally, we must refer to another recent Bit of Bother – of Further Foolishness: the Reaction to a Statement by Mr. Trudeau that the Oilsands must be phased out. All Things in this World are temporary and fleeting. The Fact that Oil provides Energy and Jobs is a Fashion of the Moment. When one has the Awareness of a Greater Lifestyle, one realizes such Things. One brings a broader, long-term Perspective: when Bread is unavailable, Cake is often an excellent Alternative. The Fact that the necessary Cake has not yet been baked, and the Move to Cake is based on certain unproven Hypotheses about Climate Change – these are Matters about which we should not be troubled.

It is always best to defer to the Wisdom of the Greater Lifestyle.

Now, we have been made aware that Mr. Trudeau has recently made Appearances in local Restaurants to re-establish contact with average Voters, to chat with them and hear their Concerns.

We think that this is precisely the wrong Tack. It is a Sign of Weakness and Indecision.

We think that, on the Contrary, Mr. Trudeau would be better served by appearing only on ceremonial Occasions, riding a White Stallion – preferably wearing ancient Armour and an impressive, plumed Helmet. We need more Insights into the Benefits of the Greater Lifestyle. It should not shrink like a Violet – it should burst forth like giant "sunny days" Sunflower.

Every day that we arise, we give profound Thanks that we live in an Era of advanced Enlightenment.

Progress proceeds apace; new Ideas come to the fore, and old, worn-out Concepts are consigned to the appropriate Dustbins of Desuetude.

We are exceptionally pleased to see that the Student Union of the School of Oriental and African Studies in London have insisted that, in the Study of Philosophy, the Majority of Philosophers should be from Africa and Asia. (National Post, January 8)

This Requirement is apparently Part of a Move to "decolonize" the University.

Apparently the Institution is in the philosophical Grip of a colonizing Mentality, and the Students, quite naturally, wish to escape the stultifying Embrace. They have identified "white philosophers" as those with colonizing Tendencies – and have made a perhaps unnecessarily generous Stipulation – that such Philosophers -- marred by insufficient Skin Pigmentation -- might possibly be studied, as long as they are viewed only from a "critical standpoint."

Surely this is an Advance long overdue! It has become clear, over the Centuries, that Skin Colour is strongly correlated with Bad Thoughts and colonizing Tendencies.

We are pleased to think that such colonizing Philosophers as Plato, Aristotle, Socrates, Spinoza, Kant, and Nietzsche will be avoided. For too long have they been studied and revered – their obvious colonial Biases obfuscated and hidden by a gormless and insensitive academic Community of Scholars.

We look forward to the Uncovering of Philosophical Gems directly related to Skin Colour.

It is a Pity that not all are as forward-thinking as these brave Students. One foolish, colonizing Philosopher – Sir Roger Scruton – no Doubt burdened with a gleaming Ivory Complexion – has declared that the Demands suggest Ignorance:

There is no Point in listening to such People: their Skin Colour invalidates their Opinion. We await, with Eagerness, a more profound Judgment from those whose Pigmentation gives us some Assurance of advanced Reasoning, and some plain Common Sense.
